Of course the wedding was rescheduled and held at the beach. Cesar looked so handsome, and as he slid the ring onto my finger I was unable to contain my joy. I smiled widely and cried with happiness, he smiled back and gazed into my eyes.
Then we kissed to finalize our commitment to eachother. Our friends and family clapped, shouted, and cried. This was really turning out to be the best moment of my life and I never wanted it to end.
I couldn't get Blake to put little Damien down. Blake was so proud to be an uncle, and he promised to always be there for his nephew. He was also having a good time meeting Cesar's family. Although mom and dad were no longer here, I could tell that they were with me somehow, enjoying this time just like all of us.
Sadly, moments like these end quickly, and before I knew it the celebration came to end. All of the guests said their goodbyes and congrats and left. Cesar insisted that I take Damien and go home as well, he'd stay behind to clean up.
A year passed and with it came my baby boy's birthday.
He just kept getting cuter. He appeared resemble Cesar the most, and Cesar couldn't be more proud to have a son that looked just like him.
Cesar started teaching Damien how to talk as soon as possible. Speech was such an important skill to master after all, and Cesar wanted Damien to be one of the smartest kids in school when he was older. Damien picked up on skills quickly, he was a bright little thing.
Smart and adorable, Cesar and I were beyond blessed to be Damien's parents. He was going to be very successful someday, I could just tell.
Unfortunately, youth does not last, and I was an elder. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, in fact I felt wiser and more sophisticated. I was ready to start focusing on my logic now.
Damien was growing older too, and soon he was starting school. Cesar and I would constantly encourage him to always do his best. He was such a happy child, and he made friends quickly.
His best friend was a lovely little red-headed girl. They were nearly inseperable, almost like the famous Bella and Mortimer pair. They would hang out almost every day after school. It made me very glad to see such a strong friendship.
But things nothing ever stays perfect in our household, and I had been noticing that Cesar was inviting another woman around quite often.
It made me quite suspicious, I had a hunch that something was going on between them. So I decided to consult him about her.
Before we were about to go to bed for the night I approached him.
"Cesar I've been noticing that you've been inviting a woman around quite often."
"Oh, she's just a friend from work," he replied. "Miranda I promise I'd never cheat on you if that's what you were thinking."
"No, I was just wondering who she was," I lied. "Well I'm going to sleep now, goodnight."
I was going to be keeping a closer eye on him from now on.
